Here are some recommendations for which ones to download (and use!) to make 2016 your healthiest year yet.

Nike+ Training Club – Over 100 workouts at all levels of fitness are available so you are never bored, and you can customize your goals and change them as you go. Don’t worry if you are new to exercise; there are videos for everything so you never get lost, or get too lonely.

Couch to 5K –  For gradual conditioning in preparation for a 5K event, also known as C25K, offers an 8-week training plan that literally takes you from walking to jogging in three half-hour workouts each week. An audio coach tells you exactly what to do and you will be surprised at how quickly you are literally up and running.

ShopWell – Nutrition labels can be confusing, but this app lets users create personal profiles with their age, gender, and health goals and preferences, and then start scanning barcodes. It’s easy to see which foods make the cut and which need to stay on the shelf!

Lumosity – For people who are quitting smoking or trying to avoid other destructive habits. This app keeps your hands and mind busy with games that are designed to improve attention, memory, problem solving skills, and more.

Twilight – Time to reconnect with the real world; this app makes it easier by slowly removing the blue light from the phone when the sun starts to set outside. That helps signal to the brain that it is time to hunker down and recover for tomorrow, when we can fire up our gadgets again.
